EMUGs New Zealand would like to invite POCUS enthusiasts from across New Zealand to attend a special POCUS mini symposium on the beautiful Tutukaka Coast home of some of the most beautiful coast line in NZ.

We have put together an exciting 2 days pitched at all levels, incorporating an EMUGs Clinical Leaders Meeting (open to all EMUGs members) a state of the art educational afternoon and two workshops for both the novice and advanced practitioner of POCUS.

Day 1 - Friday 7th December 

MORNING - EMUGS Clinical Leaders Meeting

Clinical leaders meeting for all those interested in progressing the practice of POCUS in ED and other clinical environments. This includes senior and junior doctors and sonographers.

AFTERNOON - Educational Sessions

The highlight of the day will be a smorgasbord of ultrasound pearls in the form of quick fire mini talks from speakers who come from a wide range of ultrasound experts.

Day 2  - Saturday 8th December 

One of the core purposes of EMUGS is to encourage robust training in POCUS.To that end there will be two excellent workshops that will provide training and credentialing opportunities in both.
Basic Scanning (eFAST and AAA ) for those who are new to POCUS and advanced scanning (cardiac) for those who are working towards a more advanced level of practice (e.g CPU , DDU or equivalent). This latter course is run by UIE see below or follow this link.(Note that those who register for Day 2 get complimentary access to day 1)

Details of Basic POCUS eFAST and AAA workshop: This is designed to facilitate any doctors keen to get credentialed along ASUM and ACEM guidelines, in the basic modules of eFAST and AAA . Candidates who sign up for this workshop commit to two hours of online modules pre -course, this will cover the basics of physics in ultrasound and how to perform en eFAST and AAA scan. The workshop itself reviews this in short lectures and focuses on 1.5 hrs of hands on practical instruction in each module. There will also be an assessment at the end and a workshop certificate.
